Even if there's no football, I can paint a vivid picture of why we enjoy what we have and not be to wishful for what we don't...

Basketball is a great thing... a championship banner, a good seat, the roar of the crowd during pregame introductions, watching pregame warmups for a hint of who might be on or off on a given day, the beautiful arc and the sound of the twine on a 3-pointer, the shifts of mementum, a crowd pleading "deeefeeennnnseee" on a critical possession, the alleyoop, the thread-the-needle pass for a dunk, the steal, the trap, the full court press, the fast break, the sound of the ball bouncing off the hardwood, the squeak of sneakers, the buzzer, the smell of popcorn, the thought that we can all go to the park, driveway or rec center afterward and attempt to be half as skilled as the guys on the court are (who hasn't dreamed of sinking a last-second 3-pointer to win a championship on their driveway hoop???)

Baseball is a great thing...the smell of the grass, the beautiful carpet of green bermuda, a big Dr. Pepper, nice stick of spicy beef jerky, a hurler on the mound making hitters look silly, the offense raking like batting practice. TThe gentle silver glow of the lights high above the park or puffy clouds in the distance as the sun shines brilliantly on a perfect spring afternoon...the sound of "play ball" is truly special.
