1122 total attendance ... not good enough for friggin homecoming, I dont care what the weather is like ... 25 k in total students and faculty and we only get 1122 for total attendance ..... what a joke ..... Griffin and FLoyd MUST start on monday, it makes us taller on and better defensivly ..... Brady and Epps/Hernderson see the bench preferebly Epps since Herderson is a better rebounder and defender ....

Lamar runs past UTA 85-66 to spoil Homecoming Day



Freshman center Jermaine Griffin recorded his secocnd career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday's loss to Lamar.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Junior forward Alan Daniels poured in 19 of his game-high 32 points after halftime as Lamar outscored Texas-Arlington 29-6 in the first 9:38 of the second half en route to a 85-66 win over the Mavericks in a Southland Conference men's basketball game at Texas Hall Saturday afternoon.

Lamar (15-7, 7-4) won for the fifth time in six games while UTA (10-11, 5-6) dropped its third straight.

Joining Daniels in double figures was Raymond Anthony with 16 and Nashid Beard with 14. UTA was led in scoring by Stephen Floyd with 18 points. Jarrett Howell chipped in 12, Rodrick Epps 11 and Jermaine Griffin 10 points and 12 rebounds. Steven Thomas, the league's leading scorer at 19.5 per game, was held below double figures for the second time this season, finishing with eight.





The Cardinals who rank 17th in the nation in scoring offense at 80.6 points per game, turned the game into a track meet with 10 dunks in the first 10:00 of the second half.

The Cardinals erupted for a 29-6 run to begin the second half to build a 35-34 halftime lead into a 64-41 edge with 10:22 to play after a dunk by Beard.

The teams combined for 12 three-pointers in the first half as Lamar took a 35-34 lead at intermission.

UTA led 13-5 early on and 19-12 after a Griffin layup with 10:27 left in the first half. But Lamar went on 12-3 run to take the lead for good, 24-22, on a Daniels three-pointer with 7:50 left in the half.

UTA returns to action Monday when they host St. Edward's at 7 p.m.
