Subject: I'm back. and needing information

Well, it has been a while, but I was busy trying to get out of school.

I apologize for letting the department and you all down over the several months. I just had to finish a ton of school in a little amount of time, and I had to make up for the semesters I was at The Shorthorn and my GPA fell, I mean dropped dead.

But I was able to do what my adviser said was close to impossible. In two semesters I was able to bring my GPA up from a 1.8 to a 2.29. That is still a bad GPA, but I see it as a 3.5 over the last year. Anyway.

After graduating, I finally had a chance to honeymoon and I have been working fulltime behind the scenes at the Star-Telegram.

More importantly however, now I have a chance to be a true fan. For the first time I get a chance to really cheer for UTA. I don't have to be objective as a member of The Shorthorn and I rarely write for the Star-Telegram so I am free to cheer my heart out.

While I am here, I would like to say that from what I have seen and read, The Shorthorn is really improved over the last several semesters. Brittany Tabor is the new sports editor and she has done a fabulous job thus far. Do you all think so? Last semester, was rough with a young sports editor that really didn't care much for the position.

Anyway, as far as the Star-Telegram is concerned, I have read some posts upset with the paper's coverage of the university. I can tell you that there is a story you all will enjoy in the works and times are tough for all newspapers right now. I can't tell you how many times we have had to cut down on the size of the paper.

But, it's good to be back in the fray, if you will, and with my new schedule, it appears that i will be able to be in attendance for the following:

Men's basketball:
11/30 Texas-Weslayan
12/15 Texas Austin (possibly)
12/22 Texas-Tyler
01/12 Northwestern St
01/26 Stephen F. Austin
03/02 Texas State

Women's basketball:
01/12 Northwestern St
01/26 Stephen F. Austin
03/02 Texas State

I guess what I am trying to say is, as an alum, I have to pay for tickets now, so I was wondering where I can find information about joining the maverick club? I want to support the athletics department and, hey, get free tickets as well. Are there regualr meetings? Are they on Tuesday or Wednesday? Let me know.
