Subject: Which metatarsal? My daughter broke growth plate in 5th and 1 dr. said 2 weeks and 1 said 3 weeks. Unfortunately now broke other foot's 5th metatarsal (closed fracture) and says 3 weeks. If your's is a larger bone or bigger break, it might be longer.

They also added let pain be guide. When there was no pain when you pressed on the site, it was ok to start back. She waited any extra 2 or 3 days. Then she started in dance sneakers and walking through steps. Then progressed to low jumping in a few days. It went very well.

We at 2.5 weeks in the 2nd incident and the pain just went away. We will wait until Mon or Tues anyway.

By the way, we see a sports orthopedic that treats most of our dancers. He is familiar with Irish Dancing. He seems to be in the middle of being agressive to get back into sports. Some are very conservative.
