's message, "I sure wish I could talk to a shoulder specialist RIGHT NOW!!! If anyone is out there that knows, how can you tell if your shoulder is seperated, or torn? My son plays football and is in pain tonight from a bad hit to the shoulder. As usual, the doc say, "oh, we have an appointment a week from Wed.". What is that? Does a person have to go to the ER for everything? Sheesh. Hoping alot of ice and advil help over night." on 21:25:37 08/16/05 Tue
When my mother, brother, and I have broken our feet or had serious injuries, we were ab;e to get in to see a specialist within 3 days. Mine was the longest wait because I was at school in NY and wanted to see my specialist in Boston, but had to coordinate rides to get me home as it was my right foot.
Can you go to a walk in clinic? Or a different doctor? It seems ridiculous to put your son through a week of pain before getting diagnosed/treated. According to webmd there isn't exactly a difference between a separation and a tear, but the degree of separation has to do with how many ligaments are torn.
