it doesn't matter if you go get a new pair. Whenever I get new shoes with a remotely stiff back, my heels blister. No ifs, ands or buts. Podistrist said it's a side effect of having a really high arch. The last pair of heavies I bought still have blood stains in them. Those and my ghillies were the only shoes I wore for at least 2 months (lived in sandals otherwise, and it was winter in New Enland!). I have problems now trying to buy "professional-looking" shoes without killing my feet - and I can't do heels either (ankle issues). I've debated wearing my Birkenstocks everywhere and not caring, but I don't think my advisor would appreciate that! ;-)
