My son has it too. Best advice: get a good physical therapist.
PT gave son a set of exercises to build up other muscles and stretch some others. This REALLY helped. He did them 30 min to 1 hr each night. Also certain periods of rest from dancing at the beginning. I forget how many weeks he had to take off.
But the stretching and strengthening exercises were key as well as icing as other poster said. I know 2 first place World Champions that have it. My son places high consistenly. You just have to work with it and manage it.
