Subject: The picture on top

The picture on the top of the page brings back lots of memories. I never had a rectal temperature taken by a doctor on a house call. My mother had already taken it and I think the doctor trusted that.

Going back to the picture where do you think the thermometer went? It looks like it could be a rectal thermometer. Perhaps not. The girl is upright in bed so it could have been taken orally.

Just wondering, what about you.

When I see such pictures from the old days, I allways get this thought:

That handsome doctor (and mother) are either very old or rather dead by now.

Yes those photographs do bring up some memories from my childhood. I recall every time me or my brother became seriously ill Mom ordering us into our cozy flannel pjs then into bed where she would take our temperature, orally thank God, before calling our family doctor. To bad really doctors don't make home visits anymore I think today's youth are missing out on a good thing.
