In my youth I had to bend over receptionists' laps for my shots and once got into conversation with a different receptionist outside the medical centre. She said that holding teenaged boys (as I then was) across her lap and watching them injected in the bare bottom was her favourite part of the job. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I usually don't administer the injections unless it's a part of a procedure or an emergency so the patients are always very scared and dread the whole thing. Most of the ones I give are anti inflammatory or antibiotics so they are painful. I feel sorry for the patient in general and I try so hard to make it less painful but in a few occasions when the patient is not cooperative I just jab it quickly to avoid further struggling and this makes it much more painful. Explain what and why I was to have buttocks injections. 2. The anticipated amount of tenderness/soreness I'd experience based on the medication to be given, the needle length and gauge. 3. The number of injections I required, how they would be divided between alternate buttocks if necessary. 4. If I were to (and I've had this done) receive simultaneously administered injections (2 per buttocks at the same time), I'd be informed. 5. After the injections, very moist, very warm towels would be laid across the injection sites to help alleviate any immediate soreness brought on by the insertion of the needles. 6. They would remain with me for about an hour to see if I was experiencing any negative reactions, which if I complained of, would necessitate the taking of my vital signs, most particularly, the taking of my rectal temperature to determine if the injection(s) started my temperature to rise.
