Gary. I would have to agree with all that you said about the school physical examinations that were given to us. Where I lived every student in the sixth grade had to have a physical which would be performed by the school physician or the student's personal doctor. Our examinations were administered in the nurse's office. About five or six of us would be sent down to her office and put in a side room and instructed to remove all clothing except our shorts. The nurse said that the doctor would be there in a few minutes and that there was to be no talking. Our anxiety and nervousness level was so high we didn't feel like talking. This was our first school physical and we just didn't know what was going to happen and we certainly didn't know that the examining doctor was going to be a woman physician. We waited for what seemed like an eternity but in reality was just about five minutes. Then I could hear another female voice speaking with the nurse but I didn't think that was the doctor. Not more than a minute or so later the nurse came and told one of my classmates to come with her. We waited, trying not to look at each other. Finally Jimmy came back. He had a distant, faraway look on his face. The nurse told me to follow her. We went down a very short hallway and made a left turn. Standing about fifteen feet in front of me was my examining physician, a woman in her late fifties. A black stethoscope was already in her ears and the nurse positioned me in front of her. She told me to open my mouth and tilt my head back and stick out my tongue. She then felt my neck and shoulders. The stethoscope was placed on my back and on my chest in three places. Next came my first school blood pressure check. A sleeve is wraped around your arm and air pumped into it while she listenes to your arm. It all seemed so strange and I was getting more nervous. Then the doctor sat down in a chair and told me to stand right in front of her. She gently lower my shorts and started to feel my balls. She looked at my penis. The nurse was standing off to my left and she told me to look at her. The doctor told me to keep both of my feet flat on the floor and then proceded to put her figer up in my canals. I had a little trouble giving good coughs. This was the real "shocker" part of the physical. If you could feel humiliation at that age then I felt it. Actually the doctor was quite nice and her job was not to embarrass or humiliate anyone but simply to perform physicals. I know now that we had to take all of our clothes off so she could check for any abnormalities in our growth. The nurse returned me to the room to get dressed. Before I left to go back to class I whispered to the other two that it was a lady doctor. Funny thing, we never discussed the examination. But those would not be our last. This female doc wearing the low heeled black pumps would do it to us again in the following years. And the nurse would get to know our bodies well.
