If you are a doctor, then I respect you and your profession, as healers are a needed component of our society.
What I take a different opinion and view on, is the issue of teenagers having their rectal temperatures taken by a doctor. My initial post is not a fantasy. It is true. My friend was a teen, and she was still given a rectal temperature taking. I saw it!
It appears you are new to this board, if I'm not mistaken, and if you read through the various posts, you'll see as you did in this one, that rectal temperatures are taken on patients older than 6 yr/old. I don't know if you've seen the other Voyforum message boards, but the issue/question, call it what you will is addressed and numerous responses indicate that rectal temperatures are taken on pediatric & adolescent patients.
Again, if you're a doctor as you state, you most certainly render a service in your profession. But, please don't espouse that posts you read are necessarily fantasies, as you put it. Are there false /fake postings on these boards? Most certainly. Again though, no doubt there are posters, in this case on this subject (parents) who attest to their child/children having rectal temperatures taken by doctors who are truthful in their postings.
Last, I say this. If in your practice, you DO NOT take the rectal temperature of those patients past the age of six, then that is most certainly your decision to make and take as a physician, and NO ONE should argue or criticize your decision to do so.
