How old is your daughter? Did she cry or resist in any way? Have you ever taken a RT on her and, if so, how long had it been? RT's may be a little embarrassing and a little uncomfortable if you tighten up or adequate lubricant is not used, but considering other things we have to put up with for the sake of our health, it is really a benign and trivial procedure. I've seen parents who get all bent out shape regarding a rectal temp but will without hesitation take that same child for an ear-piercing.
