 The most painfull shots are the cortisone shots givn for brusitis, these shots not only go into the muscle but also in between the bone joints, the area of the injection is numbed before the shot is givin and it still hurts like hell, the dose is very large and so is the needle,,A wide bore needle is used probably about a 12 or 14 ga......

I just assisted the doctor today with a shoulder injection into the joint... the patient said it didn't hurt at all. Dr said almost every patient he has ever had said the same thing. Guess they aren't so painful to most people.
