I asked if the shot could be given in the hip/butt area and the nurse told me that if that is where I wanted then I could get these two shots there, but she told me she would check with the nursing staff and doctors to see if I could have my shots in that area.
She came back and told me that they had to be given in the arm because the company that supplies the medication states that they must be given in the arm/shoulder area.

Yesterday my fiance and I went to my doctor for our health insurance medical exam. After the exam he asked if our tetanus was up to date. We looked at each other and said we did not know. He said well we do it today. I remembered how sore my arm was from the last one. I told the male nurse that and he said well I will give it to you in the butt. My fiance stood up and pulled down his shorts and leaned over. I watched as the nurse wiped his butt and then stuck the needle up to hub in his butt. He stood up and said okay honey bare your bum. I was kinda of embarrassed because he had only seen my butt in my bathing suit. I pulled down my shortrevealing my satin underwear. Then I pulled them down. he wathced as I got the needle jab and held my hand. I have to admit the shot did not hurt.
