I worked the aid tent during the county fair this past weekend. The very attractive young lady who was 21 was brought in by her husband complaining of an wasp sting and she was definitely having an allergic reaction. I gave her .3 epi SQ. After our doctor examined her he ordered 25mg benadryl and 125 mg solumedrol. I drew both in seperate 3cc syringes which had 20g 1.5 needles. That is how they are pacakged. I went back into the room and told her she needed to lay on her stomach as I had 2 injections. her husband stepped out with their 2 year old daughter. She had on this really cute black satin dress without hose. I pushed up her dress exposing her very firm small bottom. She has on a tiny red thong. I placed my hand on her cheek and she tensed. I told her to relax and then quickly garted the needle. I gave her the solumedrol and she screamed out that is was burning. I gave her a couple of minutes and said okay one more as I stuck her unsuspecting other cheek. Again she cried out in pain. I slowly injected the benadryl. I placed to bandaids on both sites which were bleeding from the needle. I placed ice packs on each cheek and let her wait for 20 minutes. As I was taking off the ice packs I told her those shots hurt due to her snall size.

It seems like the house calls web site has degenerated into the injection web site. The stories are all very similar and played out. A 21 year old attractive young lady, never a 55 year old overweight woman. A real paramedic would not be referring to cute dresses without hose or a firm small bottom. It is also very coincidental that the "nurses" and "paramedics" here always give the shots in the girl's bottom, never in the arm, which is pretty much the norm these days. I would also assume a real medical practitioner would spell correctly, without multiple spelling mistakes. Try to think of something original.

carol I was thinking the same thing before I read your post. But that doesnt mean it has degenrated. I do find it odd that a health professional would refer to the visual aspect of the patient's appearance. A health professional would probably see everyone the same and focus on the treatment and reactions of the patient. But.....this is a forum for people to express themselves so I suppose its all good....

Tim, I understand what you are saying, but I think the average person in this forum would like to read about real events that actually occurred, not constant fantasy by a few people, perhaps even one or two people, posting under different names. If you go back and read these posts by these "medical professionals" the scenarios are almost identical. It is either some voluptuous young lady who has to unzip her jeans and lean over the exam table to get a shot, and of course she always screams. Or, it is two young ladies who enter the exam room together to be given injections by a male nurse. When is the last time you or anyone else got a shot in your butt, and when is the last time you got a shot along with someone else at the same time.

I comletely agree. I just think it's impossible in a public forum. So the best to hope for is a few good Apples from the entire basket....LOL

I think it's really unlikely that posts like Jason's really occurred. Very few medical professionals would get turned on in a treatment situation - it's work to them, and they've seen it before. Even fewer would admit it or discuss it in a way like this, because it's so clearly unprofessional. So I just ignore posts that are clearly made up, and I'll bet that most other readers do as well. I am interested in hearing about patient and practitioner experiences that really occurred, from their point of view. It's always clear what is real and what is phony - so people with with fake experiences should not even bother.

I think many of the readers of the forum are looking for entertainment as well as realism. There should be room for all. Looking foreward to more "event" posts whether creative writing or true life adventures, and less criticism.

Dave, Tim, Carol, Steve, et al:

I see all points concerned. This forum, from what I understand it to be, was created for the "ole time MD house calls" where the doctor was paid through either cash, a hot meal, or maybe a live chicken from farmer Joe.

I enjoy reading these fantacies, and I too have noticed there is always a 20 y/o something, cute, mostly a blonde, tight butt, bluejeans, and always the red thong. They all seemed to get the needle in the cabose, moaned and yelled like they are being slaughtered, always crying, always holding their "butts" (don't know how this word pertains to the anatomy), or the boyfriend who has never seen his girlfriend's butt until she gets that shot for that sore throat..., though they dated for 2 years....tisk, tisk!

Anyway Carol, you are 100% right....no injection is given in the buttock anymore unless it is something like Torodol, which is better tolerated in a large muscle unless you are built like Hulk Hogan. And with the more powerful antibiotics these days, PCN injections are rarely given, or furthermore stocked in a refrigerator because of the allergies and imapct this medication has compared to the more powerful oral meds.
