Mandy, you are entitled to your opinion but I notice that you did not your statement with much. I received a large shot of Rocephin in my butt several years ago. I did not see how large the dose nor the 'weapon used' was. My new bride, a nurse w/ 30 years experience, was standing there behind me with my pants at half mast waiting. Her comment when she saw the syringe was an audible-to-me "Oh no!". It didn't hurt going in as bad as I expected. However, the soreness lasted about four days.
I got the shot as the alternative to spending the rest of Christmas Eve & all Christmas Day in the hospital for an infected cat bite.
I think it depends on the recipient's experience & pain receptors how they react to a painful shot. That's my experience.

Ive heard that pills start working almost as fast as shot does. The main reason for the shot is to bypass the stomach so it doesnt cause issues there...Is this not true?
