In reply to: MikeKnight 's message, "The Existence of God" on 17:22:22 04/02/02 Tue

The main argument for the existence of god(s) is that the universe is too complex to be w/o a creator. Look at the perfect alignment of the earth with the sun, the highly improbable chance of amino acids happening to hit the right combination for a protein, then sparking life on earth. Which happens to evolve into things as diverse as the ebola virus, dinosaurs, and of course humans.

Seems a little too complex to happen by chance. There MUST have been a creator. Or maybe not. This argument is based on the premise that "complex things don't happen by chance." If so, then what created the most complex thing of all, god?

Thus, there is no way to PROVE god's existence. However, it seems there is no way to disprove god's existence.

But a good case can be made against the god's of established religions. Christian God, why would he not allow Ghandi into heaven? Muslim God, why would he allow Muhammed to explicitly restrict women's rights in the Quran? Hindu gods, why can only Indians be Hindu. And reincarnation isn't feasible with the whole population boom.

So my answer? Swear off established religions. Jesus can't help you when it comes to basketball. I can. Join my cult. The "bobos".
