Many wonder how to achieve #1 status in msn and other engines. Heres the surefire way.
1.)Buy a domain name relevant to your keyword.
Many make the mistake of not buying the right keyword. If you want to easily get number one
you should not try to get #1 for fresh eggs with billybobshoseshopintheattic-andtireshop.com
if you can get the domain name bobsfresheggs.com you will have a much better chance at fresheggs.
2.)Use Correctly formatted meta tags
Metatags are useless to you if you dont use your domain keywords, Use keywords that are in your titile tag and use robots meta tags, have it parse your site every few days to keep your content updated.
3.) Write good descriptive Keyword and description meta tags.
Proper grammer and spelling in your description will make the engines give you a better look. Totally essential for directories like DMOZ.
4.) Use Css files and Js files as often as you can.
cluttering the head tags with javascript and css not only slows down a site, it also hinders the search engine spiders horribly. Google hates javascript, and its not fond of localized gunk like css.
5.) Use relevant title tags.
If your page is about boxing, you dont want your title to say welcome. You want it to say "boxing" and do not keyword stuff the title tags either that will get you censured.
6.) Use H1 and the other H tags Alt tags etc when you can.
Google love H tags. it also loves alt tags. use them sparingly but use them. dont overdue. The alt tags should all have text relating to the image for accessibility issues which is part of the pr rating process.
7.)Use tables for tabular data, not as a layout tool
Tables are a known no no for search engines, it impeades the search engines ability to index your site correctly. Use css as your layout tool as often as you can. There is a design method called tabless columns with css. It utilizes div tags and css. If you hand code you will need a firm grasp of css. and alot of testing, or you can aquire a copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver, which commands it well.
8.) Hand submit to the Search Engines
One of the most daunting tasks is Hand Searchengine Submissions. But it pays off. Most all automated programs are rejected or give your site low priority. Many will black list you. The spiders dont matter they can be auto submitted to, or you can just wait, because they are coming anyway. Directories need to be hand submitted. 9) RELEVANT Quality backlinks
Reciprocal linking used to be the norm, and will help you with some of the older engines. A handful of high pr

10) Be realistic with your keywords.
If your a web designer, and you want to be #1 in the keyword "web design" thats not a realistic goal unless you have major financial backing and a few friends in the search engine companies your paying kickbacks to.
if your from dallas, shoot for "dallas web designer" or maybe a slight mispelling
11.) Buy as many domains in your keyword as you can. misspellings included.
If you have the money, buy the .com, .net, and .org .ca and so forth of you domain as you can afford. It helps with engines and it helps in trademark issues as well. Smart buyers, will buy common misspellings of their domain as well.
12.) Advertising
Buy up a few google adwords to get your campaign off the ground. You can usually pick up smaller keywords in adwords to get you moving, so you wont be sitting at googles refreshing the links:mypage.com buy banner ads, and buy some good text links on relevant sites to yours with a higher pr.
