Why Willow and not Spike?

I didn't write it, but in a rehabilitation of Willow, I'm assuming some admission of wrongdoing from her, something we've NEVER seen from Spike.

As for your other point, I'm only saying that it teeters close to a changed premise -- I know that BtVS has been moving more to the shades of grey and away from black-white snap judgements, but in a purely philosophical sense, Buffy would have to deal with evil-Willow as she does every other foe (kill or incapacitate, since she HAS shown restraint in killing humans), or totally revamp (no pun intended) her strategy with non-human opponents.

Yes, I admit to being more favorably disposed towards Willow, and I admit that it is biased, but I also think there is a substantial difference (as far as I can tell, sight unseen of the fruition of these spoilers) between Willow's path and Spike's -- and I'd still err on the side of Willow any day.

Biased.

You bet.

If Willow massacres countless hundreds/thousands without remorse -- we'll talk :)
