Yes, there are bad teachers. The first one I encountered was my fourth grade teacher. She insisted that I was stupid because I struggled learning math, and she had no problem sharing her view with the whole class. Of course it couldn't have had anything to do with an abusive homelife. There were many other incredibly nasty teachers in my academic career, but I managed to get through. I graduated college with honors and moved on to a great career. Interestingly enough, I still hate teachers many years later. The teachers I meet today seem no better.
