Subject: Self Deception

I have heard this tired speech too many times on this forum not to respond to it. There is a difference between self deception and good old fashioned fantasy.

Let's face it folks, life would be pretty damned boring if it weren't for the occasional self deception, the dreamer, and the fantasist. We deceive ourselves every time we go to the movies, every time we read a book. Is this bad? We deceive ourselves by believing in dragons, cyclops, immortality and the tooth fairy, but guess what! Who cares! Before you do it, you must dream it. I think the human race would be pretty pathetic without the "self deception" of Dali, Picasso, Jesus, Lennon, King. Were their beliefs real? Were Picasso's people real? Who gives a rat's ass. I for one believe that a little fantasy can go a long way to make our lives better, in fact, to promote self-truthfulness. That is my 2 cents. Thank you.
