Thanks - but wouldn't it have been neater of the solar system were built like the atom on a much larger scale?
Don't gripe at me, its not like I designed the SS. Well, okay. I did. Gotta 'fess up, I guess.
Anyway, if you consider the comets and other bodies out there circling the sun, the SS is almost like the classic diagram of the atom. I imagine the SS is more disk-like than ball-like because the sun is rotating, and this rotation creates the oomph needed to get the planets rolling along, so to speak... and probably was involved in the creation of the SS...
I suppose if the SS just flashed into existence like some religious folks claim, it could just has well of ended up looking like the atom.
