Subject: The King's Decisions

If you think Aragorn breaking his oaths to see Frodo through orc infested wildlands and treacherous mountains showed kingly wisdom, then I must understand nothing of oaths or being a king!

Okay, then you understand nothing of being a king. :)

Frodo very clearly released Aragorn from his oath - it wasn't that Aragorn broke an oath. Aragorn also understands something about the nature of war - deception is part of warfare. If the entire known fellowship takes off after Merry and Pippin (since Saruman didn't know which Hobbit had the Ring), then that would take pressure OFF of Frodo and Sam. That is why Aragorn did not seek after Frodo when he left in the book, and this is why Aragorn didn't go after Frodo in the movie. Being king is not about the rash following of oaths - it is following the wisest course of action for the people he has sword to protect - which is EXACTLY what Aragorn did in the movie.

Color me blue and stamp me with silly stamps, but if Grimhelm ever would have done something like that, it would likely have been filed in the file for very silly decision making!

I shall henceforth consider you blue and stamped. :)

Inzeladun's finest making pansy-ass decisions!

Just because Aragorn chose wisdom and an attempt to deceive the enemy (if they didn't go after Merry and Pippin, the Saruman would know he had a pair of useless Hobbits), doesn't make it a pansy-ass decision. Indeed, it was obviously a very touch decision to make for Aragorn, and made him, in my eyes, very much a king.
