Published: 185 by Dell Publishing
Length: 368 pages, paperback
Genre: Detective

I've attached this review to a previous review of a Robert Parker back, which just happens to be the first review I did. Since I trashed that book, I could not resist the opportunity to read a "Spenser" novel and say something positive about Parker's work.

This is the 14th Spenser novel, according to my count from the front of the book. Spenser is a hard-boiled, wise-cracking detective (imagine Humphrey Bogart mixed with Bill Murray) from Boston.

This series has been going on for nearly 30 years and I would not recommend this book as the book to start your adventures with Spenser. This is not because it is a bod book, but because it makes multiple references to some of the earlier novels in the series. I heartily recommend this series, but I would start with an early novel.

I give the series an "A"

I give this book a "B+"
