I just tried to imagine myself running a country, and the US kept telling me how I should run it, forcing me to let them in, etc... I would be hostile too.

If the people Saddam rules doesn't like him, then they can oust him themselves. The US has no right to interfere. A "pre-emptive strike" sounds like a policy Hitler would have used.
