How different might our culture be if we simply embraced death, then got on with living? I fancy that people would be a bit more contented.

Do not take this as an insult (and I very much doubt you will) - because as a Spanish teacher (as well as history) I do not mean it as such - but this is a very "Mexican" thought. (On an aside - how sad it is when, to some the very word "Mexican" is an insult)

On "safetifying" - when I went to the Grand Canyon about 10 years ago I could not help but notice that there were railings installed all around the popular overlooks. Who makes the 2 hour one-way drive from the interstate to the Grand Canyon not knowing that it is a really, really, really, really big hole and that you could fall in it and it would hurt real, real, real bad?
