Subject: Satellite TV - anybody got it? Any suggestions?

My cable bill is outrageous ($46.00) and I was wondering if anybody knew anything about "dish network" or "direct TV"? I've done some research, but word of mouth is also very important to me.

It looks to me like they offer about twice as much for less money, but I'm wondering about dependability. My cable provider constantly runs commercials badmouthing satellite dishes, but I would fully expect them to do that since they are in direct comptetion.

As far as what I'm looking for - basic channels plus ESPN, etc. I don't care about the movie channels, but if they're tossed in that would be fine.
