Hi John,
Very long time, no see !
Just like Michael says. She ran out at noon on the 28th July 1917 for a trial of four hours. Next to Glimpf only 12 persons were on board of the usual 23. Seems that many of the men were at the Feldlazarett 1 at Oostende with influenza. There were also two army officers on board, Stabarzt Lohmann and Hauptmann Bormann and two technical personel, Mar. Ing. asp. Volk and Werkmeister Klein. They were to go to the Westhinder LV area and return. She did hit a mine as Michael said, damage clearly points into that direction. Many parts of the U-boat have ended up in pricvate collections. Among them one of the screws, her 88 mm gun, I ve even seen a Netschneidetorpedo, etc.
So no women on board. Glimpf his body was found near Lodjberg, Jutland. There probably also washed ashore one body of a crewmember at Middelkerke. I'm still doing some research on the matter. The wreck lays 30 meters deep and she is rather intact with the exception of her bow, where she hit the mine.
Best from Johan
