The Avatar might fit, but it would be snug. I'm 6'1", 34" inseam too, though I weigh around 200 #. My GF has a 15.5 Avatar and it is a tight fit on me - which I don't mind, I paddle a avocet.

Have you checked out the Percertion Eclipse yet? I sat in one at canoecopia this year and it could no believe how good that boat felt. I didn't end up getting one base on the carrying capacity - TOO BIG! :) It's rated to carry 425 lbs, which would be great for the (two or three) week-long trips I plan to take per year but I was afraid it wouldn't handle well unloaded for me.

37" inseam here and 14's

I would really recommend you test paddle anything before buying it. It's worth a haul to somewhere that has boats available to do this too.

I've not found any of the Perception performance boats to be comfortable for a big paddler at all. The deck clearance on the Eclipse for example is too low and the cockpit is really tight.

The big boat they have is the big version of the Carolina, name escapes me. Plenty of room but it handles like a big log compared to other big guy boats.

I'd be looking at the Eddyline Nighthawk (obvious bias there ;-)) or the new Phoenix they came out with. Also the Wilderness Systems Tempest 180 looks very promising.

Be careful about comfort, it isn't long before you are up to 4-5hr days in the boat and it will be critical. What feels right on the floor in a dealer is a totally different animal once you are on the water after an hour or so.

I got bit by buying a CD Sirocco and suffered quite a bit due to an ill fit for my size. I'll never buy anything without some extended test time in it again.

I am 5'6", 220 pounds, and have an Eclipse. I bought it for expeditions, and find it is distinctly too big for my more common day trips. It NEEDS a good 250 pounds to handle as it is designed, but has plenty of room. My wife's Avatar (16) is extremely cramped for me, but is more of a "sports car" of boats. My men's 8 1/2 feet are extremely cramped in the Avatar, but no one that has been in the Eclipse has ever complained about it being small or tight!!

I am interested in selling the Eclipse (for a Valley) if anyone is interested.
