I'm a little shorter (5' 8.5") and probably heavier at 270, with a large waist and butt. I just bought the Perception Captiva (discontinued under that name, now available as the 16' Carolina). The cockpit is GREAT. I have enough room side to side, and by removing the padded thigh braces (2 screws, easy) my large thighs fit underneath the edge of the cockpit, and my knees can be wedged in comfortably between the side of the kayak and the edge of the cockpit. If your thighs are not large, or are longer, you might be able to leave in the padded thighbraces. There is plenty of leg and foot room. There is at least a foot left available on the footpeg rails beyond where I adjusted them to. I am not very flexible, so the large cockpit makes it easy to get in and out, and the opening is still small enough for a sprayskirt. At 16', it is a little longer than I wanted, but the length and two bulkheads make it more seaworthy than I am.
Good luck.
Dan
