hello,
I am also 6'8 so I feel your troubles. I recently got into the sport, and took a long time trying to find the right kayak for me. I will say the same as the others, make sure you find something that fits him perfectly, it is not fun to be paddling in a yak that dosent fit.
I however love my perception acadia 12.5. I have a 36 inseam, and have extra room to spare!! the cockpit is nicely sized, and the stability of it is great for a beginner. I have tried other boats (such as the loon 138 and the pungo 140, and didnt like them as much) those three have enough room for someone of his height, but remember it is all about how it fits you (or your husband in this case)
