Doormat? I somehow doubt that description would ever fit her, but only because of where they live and what they do for a living. Separate them from an outdoor atmosphere and force her into a strictly urban situation and she might become so depressed as to become a doormat, but otherwise? Nope, just can't see it.

Crystal might work very hard to accommodate Preach's beliefs, but I can't see her lasting long in a subservient role in any way. Instead I think the two of them will rub the sharp corners off each other and what will end up isn't what we've seen at last mention.

Yes, the story seems to be that Preach and Crystal are each becoming more like the other. Fortunately, there are other, more interesting story lines going on.
