In the Bullring Days One thread, Greg B. made a comment about how much he liked a book by the name of The Last Open Road by Bert Levy. That got me curious, and I wound up ordering the book. I have to say it's a fun read!

It gets into a lot of background of early fifties sports car racing, and that was an interesting era. It's also funny -- it puts me in mind of Janet Evanovich.

Amazon has a long free sample of it on the page -- you might like to check it out.

Thanks to Greg for putting me onto this one. I'd been looking to read something new and this really was worth the effort.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I've had so much pleasure reading your work, I'm happy to be able to recommend something you've enjoyed reading. Actually, Bull Ring Days has me thinking of re-reading TLOR.

Another book that tells a lot about open wheel racing is "Gentlemen Start Your Engines". It is Wilbur Shaw
s biography. It covers a lot of the racing era before WWII and afterward. I don't know how long afterward as its been years since I read the book.
