Not wanting to rain on things, but they'd never notice the difference between a normal full moon and the alleged Supermoon ... It's not something that you visually notice, although photographically or via telescope observation you will.

The main feature would be the eclipse itself; they're rare, unlike the "supermoon".

Wouldn't you know it. Clouds obscured the moon until 1 a.m. and eclipse was over. Thank goodness for the internet, we could see it there and on television this morning. It would have been nice to have seen it live since the next eclipse is 18 years off.

Not quite. The next total lunar eclipses will be on
January 31 and July 27, 2018, January 21, 2019 and May 26, 2021.
