Yep, I agree, I AM judgmental, but then so are you and many others. However, even though I am judgmental, I'm also a steadfast friend to those I believe deserve my friendship or just a pat on the back. I don't often bother to explain myself either, but writing is hard work and I know how much work Henrie must have put into writing those stories. I am willing to and have thanked many writers for their hard work, including Lazlo Zalezac, but I am also a rather honest man and if I feel someone screwed up, I say so. Now I don't pretend to be perfect and I think I'd be boring if I was. So what you see is what you get - an old curmudgeon with strong opinions. kp

As to the "Thunder and Lightening" reference, your review (at that time) showed your apparent lack of understanding of the title. I admit to being rather protective of that particular story, since I identify to some extent with the principal character. Anyway, finally got that off my chest.

Oh I remember quite well! griez was recommending the story and I asked why I should bother reading it since the author obviously couldn't spell if part of the title was spelled incorrectly. Then I think I went on to rant about how titles were important to a story because regardless of what theorists say, a lot of people do 'judge a book by it's cover.' I may even have covered my second 'favourite' rant, which is the 'author's blurb' (- I know there's a name for it, but I've had a brain fffttt on that word). Anyway, that 'blurb' gives an introduction to a story as well as something about what to expect when you read the tale. I consider them extremely important and I spend hours writing and rewriting one before posting it. I just shake my head at the attempts some writer's make. (Luckily Wes is an expert at the job and I have yet to complain to him about what he has written as a 'blurb,' but then he has newspaper experience and I think that helps.) kp
