Ahh! that explains it, because I'm one of those weird ducks who can read chapter 1 and have an idea what the author is going to write in chapter 3 -- and don't ask me how it works, 'cause I don't know. (I seldom get too far lost on your tales, but I do make some mistakes, which is what makes your tri-weekly postings fun and why I enjoy reading serials!)
In this case I saw 3 possible results, but now, after hearing your explanation, I have almost eliminated 2 of them.
