I'm not sure where you are going with this, because their offers both got accepted, but acceptance and possession are NOT the same.
To quote the last line from the story, Joy said; "I just heard from the real estate agent. The offers got accepted. Both of them. We need to get over and sign the acceptance, and then we need to get started looking for financing."
In other words, they are nowhere near possession date yet.
