I should also have included Rocinante - one of the first I read and I've read it again twice since!
Yeah, did follow the ferry routes etc etc and also looked at the isolation of airports - particulary Gander - never realised how way out in the sticks that was to become an international stopover.
PS - where are you - I'm on the northern beaches.

Yes Gander is out in the sticks, but have a look at Goose Bay!!! It was also a major trans Atlantic airport back in the day.

I'm live right at Spit Junction, the cheap end of Mosman!
