Any bets on whether Preach is wearing handcuffs before the end of this book?

Well, considering Crystal's character and actions up until this time, I certainly wouldn't bet on her complete cooperation with Noah's wishes.

I mean for her to be subservient to anyone's demands is a 180 degree swap of character. Just think back on how she reacted to her father (okay, make that her step-daddy, not her real dad.)

Sorry, but I just can't see Crystal and Noah having a smooth time of their relationship.

I don't agree with you on this point. My reading of "Growing Together", chapters 9-21 seems to indicate that Crystal and Noah are getting along together well. Crystal is very impulsive and fears having to grow up. But isn't the ability to control our impulses one of the things that distinguishes adults from children? Sometimes you have to hit a person upside the head to get their attention. By chapter 21 of "Growing Together", Crystal is starting to show maturity in dealing with Pete Chladek.

I'm afraid I agree with dotB. Although it is possible that Crystal might be able to rein in her 'willful' personality, and be subservient to Noah, would the resultant person still be Crystal? I think Ephesians 5 was fine for 2000 (or more) years ago, but today, in the free world, it simply is an anachronism.

Bottom line, we are dealing with fictional characters here. They say what Wes tells them to say, although such characters often disagree with what the author had originally planned to have them say . . .

To Ephesians: 2000 years ago the man (mostly) earned the income and fought the fights, the woman had the children. Nowadays women have jobs, driving licences and even (whisper it quietly) the vote. Having a seperate income makes a difference. They still bear the children though, and normally win custody battles.

It was Myleigh who never wanted to be a slave to a penis. Crystal permitting it is still a surprise though.
