G'day,
May I suggest Emily's daughter Kayla. You can develop her running at the same time as you develop her political awareness as started in Picking Up the Pieces. There's opportunity there to start with her in high school or college and involve her with the appropriate local politics while developing her running career.
Some drama can be added by having her become a leading Olympic running candidate and then an injury forces her out of running and deeper into politics.

Funny, I was just thinking about that. It had to have happened but I don't know about making a story out of it.

It would almost have to happen after Homestanders and Picking up the Pieces. That means the knife shop is in full swing. Can they all take off and leave it at the same time?

A story revolving around emily and kevin would be great as well as their daughter. Emily has played a great secondary character in most of the bradford stories but unlike any of the other characters has not had the limelight or main focus, niether has kevin, perhaps its their time ?

That's an interesting idea. I remember Noah was from southern Michigan, so it would be natural that he and Crystal and his in-laws might visit around Bradford. If any of the Bradford characters did take a Canyon trip, wouldn't they likely go with Duane and Michelle? Maybe the Canyon Tours people could meet up with Roger and Cattail, also.

Alas, there are some timing issues involved with books not yet published that make these a little more complicated.
That's the problem with this thread, and the other one -- I've seen some good ideas go by that I've already addressed, or are rendered unlikely by events that have yet to be published.
