For everyone who read Snowplow Extra and wondered how you can plow a track in deep snow... this video from New Zealand should give you an idea: Spectacular footage Train plowing through deep snow Arthurs Pass

Try this video of snow plowing on the Strasburg Railroad in Pa. (Kyle Martins stomping grounds.) The Russel plow is very similar to the big plow on the C&SL.

I like it better there in the summer. Believe it or not, people swim in the little river under the bridge, right next to glacial run-off.

That's gotta be COLD!!!! A number of years back while working in the Seattle area, I flew my wife (then girlfriend) out for 4th of July weekend to see me. We drove down to part of the Rainier National Forest near the White River. That water (also glacial runoff), if you were lucky, was 34-35 degrees and felt MUCH colder as the rapid flow drew the warmth out of your hands fast!
