Subject: Bridging material for Clark Constructions Author: Deadly Ernest [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 06:30:45 07/31/12 Tue G'day Wes, Just out of interest, I wondered why you don't have someone who served with Company D suggest Randy use Bailey Bridge for the temporary bridge he needs to the island, I'm sure they must have seen the stuff in use as it was the common temporary bridging used to replaced knocked out bridges. After all, the system was used to cross some very wide rivers in Europe during the war, including the Rhine which is reported as being a little wide in some places. He should be able to pick some up cheap at military disposals and it can be used for a wealth of things later due to the truss style design. In my mental picture of the scene the island is about half a mile from the landing. At most they have a few hundred bucks tied up in the raft. The design of the Bailey bridge and the features of the geography happened to match. Besides, I had experience with the Bailey design previously, having worked on a road crew and helped deal with a bridge washout, so I was thinking of asking Wes the same question. I had thought Randy could use the bridging material for the lake and then reuse it for some other construction work as that is some very strong truss material. Only works with very young kittens and not those that are nearly fully grown. However, I still have the Chap 14 zip, so I may unzip it again and reread that to compare - when I've got time.
