Looks like the country had a finite amount of common sense when it was founded.

Many more people now, not enough to go around.

I think it is a matter of "We have to come down hard on anything so that people realize we are in control." I see here, in South Mississippi, the PTA fighting with the school board over control, and the people running for school board saying "I will get the teachers under control." It is all about 'control' I asked a school board candidate about teaching and his reply was "I will worry about that after we get things under control."
So I can see telling the young man he can't bring the horse to school but the suspension I think was unnecessary.

Sounds like the kid is going to a suburban school where nobody has a sense of humor.

Just for fun I ran this past the local high school principal. His rather tongue in cheek reaction: "I think they could have handled the situation without suspending the student."

Of course, this is the principal of a school where a guy brought his date to the prom in the cab of a BIG John Deere tractor. Don't laugh! It was far and away the most expensive set of wheels on the parking lot . . .

Reminds me of a "farmer joke" where a farmer was getting back at the city slickers. One of the lines was something about "Don't try to impress us with an $80,000 Porsche. We've got quarter million dollar combines we drive for just two weeks a year."
