In the most recent story involving Jennlynn written -- not yet posted and won't be for a while -- she has moved on to another airplane, and that's all the spoiler I'm going to give on that.

Remember that most of the Learjet Jenn stories are dated in the late 1990s -- nearly twenty years ago, and the Lear was an old one at the time.

I read partway down through that and found it interesting, but in reading it you have to remember that bizjets have improved a lot since the first Lear 20s rolled out of the shop almost half a century ago, and Skyhook was one of the earliest ones.

Yep, the early Lear cockpits were built for short pilots with small bottoms. I'm tall enough that I almost had to walk on my knees when I had a ride with a friend in one of the early versions. Not only that, but I recall the switches in the cockpit being tiny little toggles that looked about the same size as matchsticks. I did like the way that bird took off though - a great loud noise and lots of G-force as you took off.

I'm afraid you're going to be a little disappointed in that Jennlynn is only going to be a minor character in the next book, and in a future book. However, I keep thinking about doing another book about her, possibly ten years in the future from the last point she's been mentioned.

The problem with doing another major book on Jennlynn is that Magic Carpet is an extremely tough act to follow. If I do another book on her, I want to do at least as good a job.

Some one of these days the right idea will come along.

How about her owning a film company/studio based in LV?
I would like to know how the kids are doing especially
Myleigh's daughter Caitlin. Wes, you have created some
memorable characters in your novels.

You know, that's something I've thought about more than once recently -- I mean, the kids in Spearfish Lake born in roughly 2004-06: Sky and Hunter Evachevski, Brent and Raven Clark, and Celeste Hartwell. Brent and Raven have already had bit parts in Forgotten Killer. If this were the real world, they would be just about ready to turn teenagers. They've been pretty much brought up together as their parents are all close friends. It seems to me there ought to be a story there. I've got to think about that one some more.

The final Learjet design was instead adapted from an abortive 1950s Swiss ground-attack fighter aircraft, the FFA P-16. So it wasn't designed from the ground up for business. The cockpit was probably designed to be gotten from above and then close the canopy. That was the 23, the others in the 20 series were derived from the 23 so probably similar.

Well, sort of. It's true that the wing was a modification of the P-16 wing, but the fuselage was all new and by a different designer. The fuselage was designed to be as small, especially in cross section, as possible both for performance and aesthetic reasons. The cockpit was designed to be entered from the cabin, it's just that comfort wasn't a design criteria.

Found this article about the development of the Learjet form the FFA P-16 design. Very interesting.
