Half of the blurb is sensationalistic hyperbole that makes one expect a ghost story. But actually this scenario plays only a very cursory role in the story so I feel somewhat cheated. And Ann didn't "lure" Steve to Wychbold, which suggests a sinister plot, she asked him on behalf of his uncle.

The last chapters are more a synopsis of what happened at the end. They read as if Wes lost the motivation to finish the story properly.

Still, mostly it's nicely written in the usual Wes Boyd style, so I rate this story a B-
