I don't know where you found reference to $300 for train fares. Have not seen that in the items I read.

The listed fares from his home city to London are about £25 return. Then an additional short journey on the Underground.

The bowl of coins shown contains at least £40. Some 20 x £1, 10 x £2, then assorted 50p and lower value coins.

I just did train fare look up - did the same again and got similar results to you so I don't know what I did wrong. I've been living out of the UK for over a year now so maybe my sense of money is a little distorted.
