Subject: A ring for Myleigh

I just read where Jane Austen's ring is up for auction. Sothebys estimates the ring will go for between £20,000-30,000. I'm sure Myleigh would salivate over it.

I sort of doubt that Trey can afford it. (Grin)

Maybe Randy could buy it, and donate it to the Marienthal College, with the requirement that Myleigh has access to it :-)

I think it would be a bit of a stretch for Randy, too. He's worth a lot on paper but gets the cash only if he sells the business, which he isn't likely to do. He could budget and save up for it, but coming up with that much at once on short notice would require borrowing it from a bank or other source, I'd think.

Jennifer and/or Blake could certainly do it without batting an eye, and they did it with Myleigh's big harp. Not that they're likely to for something as frivolous as a ring.

Well, since we're talking about Myleigh, I doubt Jane Austin's ring would interest her all that much, but imagine the thrill she'd get from a first edition copy of "Pride & Prejudice" or some object that Jane Austin actually held and used.
I think she'd love to have one of the thousands of letters written by Jane Austin, especially since so few of them have survived. In fact Myleigh might swoon over something like Jane Austin's desk or even her inkwell.

Just picked this up:

"A ring that once belonged to Jane Austen was sold at auction for an astonishing $236,557 on Tuesday.

"Sotheby’s London auction house had predicted that the ring would sell for as much as $45,000, but auctioneers were surprised by the final figure the closely-held family heirloom brought in."

And I take it the buyer wasn't a character in any of your books.
