Indeed. The shop tour at the Steamtown National Historic Site:
http://www.nps.gov/stea
was pretty interesting. It's a working shop, so you get to see the bits & pieces of whatever they are repairing at the time of your visit.

Glad you introduced steam into this thread. My early memories, on the other side of the pond, are of Jub's and Scot's, Black 5's and Crab's. But best of all Duchesses and Princess's, (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMS_Princess_Coronation_Class_6229_Duchess_of_Hamilton) and also a few Brit's.
Before moving to the area of God's Wonderful Railway (GWR - AKA Great Western {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Western_Railway#Locomotives}) with its Castles and Kings.
