Yes, there are many of them around the country. In my area I know of three, two of which offer rides on their trains. One also has several historic locomotives and railroad cars, including a '40 et 8'.

The most impressive museum I have seen is in Wes's neighborhood, the B & O Railroad Museum. ttp://www.borail.org/

I kind of like the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Not just trains, but the damndest collection of stuff you can imagine.

Was there once as a child (won't say how long ago) but it was memorable even then.
