You are right, there are way too many awards shows these days. No surprise that Brad is not included. They already released nominations-lists for other awards and he is not mentioned anywhere. It is pretty obvious they exclude him totally again this year. This Golden Globe nomination for Babel last year apparently was an accident ;-)
But it is so boring to see the same names over and over again on these lists. Are these people so much better than so many other actors working in Hollywood, Brad included? I don't think so. The people who always end up on these lists are the ones who play these Hollywood Games. If you don't join them they punish you with ignorance. Brad was never a typical Hollywood player (see State of Play), so he can't be award-worthy for them. At least he is honest to himself and doesn't others allow to manipulate him. If that means no award for him Brad can live with that, I guess. This can't be said about many of the others on the list.
You know, I haven't seen Jesse James and I always hear that Casey Affleck is very good in it, but acting-wise in the same level with Brad. People on a movie-forum start to complain why they nominate Casey but not also Brad since Casey's performance was not stronger. Some people say that they don't understand why Casey gets so many nominations since it was an Ensemble piece and there were some other great performances in the film that they completely ignore, like Brad's and Sam Shepard's.
Well, I don't think about that anymore. I think maybe it is the nicer compliment not to be on these nominations-lists. And I hope Brad faces more love and appreciation within his family and friends than in his business.
